#WhatchaListeningTo Wednesday

Here's what's been in my ears this week:

  • Weezer - Buddy Holly - I've always loved this music video (I think it was one of the first that I saw when I "discovered" MTV and VH1), and haven't been able to get this out of my head for the past few days.
  • Radiohead - There There - A great beat, a mysterious unrequited love-type song, if you will...
  • Morning Parade - Headlights - Glad to be hearing more from these guys - "But I'll keep my promises/ I won't let you down..."
  • Two Door Cinema Club - What You Know - I heard this for the first time on @RadioBDC (Boston.com's new online radio station) this week, and at first, I thought that it was a Death Cab for Cutie song. It definitely gets my toes tapping.
  • The xx - Islands - I turn to The xx when I'm in need of some chill music, and they've done it again here.
  • Matt and Kim - Let's Go - Another song that's been stuck in my head!  "Say what you wanna say, make it mean everything..."

#WhatchaListeningTo Wednesdays

Here's what I'm listening to this week:

  • J.D. McPherson - North Side Gal - This song gets my foot tapping!  I can't help but think back to sitting in the backseat of my mom's station wagon and thinking that "Big D 103" was the only radio station in Connecticut (it was the only one she ever played in the car).  Oldies have a special place in my heart!  I probably would have done pretty well at sock hops, I'm not gonna lie.
  • Talking Heads - Nothing But Flowers - At first listen it just sounds like a fun and carefree song, but definitely one that can make you think!  I love when Guster covers this song, but couldn't find a good video to share.
  • Dawes - A Little Bit of Everything - "I think that love is so much easier than you realize/ If you can give yourself to someone/ Then you should..."
  • Dion Roy - Daughter - my friend Dion's song for Father's Day; very sweet.
  • Morning Parade - Under the Stars - I wrote a post about this band back in March, and they were in town today with my friends at @Radio929.

#MusicMyFriendsGotMeInto: Morning Parade

Chatting this evening with my friend Brian, he told me about a band from England called Morning Parade:

... and check 'em out I did.  I was not disappointed, and definitely hear the Coldplay/Snow Patrol vibe they have going.

"Under the Stars"

"I’m gonna set my sightsI’m gonna set your soul alight
Under the stars..."

And this one really makes me want to see them live:

"Pieces"
Their album comes out on March 5th, and I look forward to seeing how it does, and to checking out the rest of their music!  They definitely have a great rock sound, and I agree with Brian's Coldplay/Snow Patrol take on them.

What do you think?
