I think that, in a past life, I was somehow involved in the music industry. Music is a huge passion of mine! Concerts, albums, recommended by friends, found by accident, it doesn't matter - let me at it.

Counting Crows - Omaha (live!) - I heard this on the radio this week for the first time, and didn't realize it's an old one... oops. Oh, Adam Duritz, your hair is almost too much to handle, and I love it.
Garbage - Blood For Poppies - I've heard this a few times in the last week or two and it's sticking with me for some reason... still figuring that one out...
Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart - I know it's an old one, but I don't really know much Joy Division, and am definitely late to this party, seeing as how this is from 1979. Another oops. If I'm correct, Lauren over at LaRockism is a JD fan, right?
Andrew Bird - Eyeoneye - "Go ahead and re-eyeoneye yourself/ Give yourself a hand..."
Jeff Buckley - Last Goodbye- from the man whose version of "Hallelujah" is well-known... he left this earth far too soon.
Bruce Springsteen - Lonesome Day - Everyone on the radio has been talking about The Boss coming to Boston this summer; I've never seen him in concert, but who knows, maybe one day!
The War On Drugs - Baby Missiles - this song sorta made me think of Arcade Fire for some reason, who I also enjoy.
Trevor Hall - Brand New Day - this has been used for some TV promo things (the new CBS morning show, if I remember correctly)... "Whatcha waiting for? It's a brand new day."
I "introduced" you to Kina Grannis (@kinagrannis) back in January and was finally able to see her and meet her this weekend. She performed at The Paradise in Boston on Friday night, and was great! Imaginary Friend opened for her, and joined her onstage for a beautiful cover of Coldplay's "Fix You." For the majority of Kina's set, she was supported by Keith Tutt, II (@keithtuttII) on cello - his sound complimented Kina's voice beautifully. Her lyrics really connect to and speak to the everyday person trying to deal with relationships, in my opinion.

Highlights from Kina's set included: World In Front Of Me - a great song to open with! The One You Say Goodnight To Valentine The Goldfish Song Message From Your Heart (she unplugged for this one, and encouraged audience participation) In Your Arms - or, as my student refers to it, "The Jelly Bean Video Song"

The Naked and Famous - Punching in a Dream - this is a song off of TNAF's album Passive Me, Aggressive You... and as someone who has some weird ass dreams, I enjoy this song.
Graffiti6 - Stare Into the Sun - Not reflective of my current situation ;-) but I saw this band open for Augustana and thought they sounded pretty good live!
Needtobreathe - Keep Your Eyes Open - Definitely an uplifting song if you're having a tough day!
The Flaming Lips - She Don't Use Jelly - from the band's website, about the song: "With its chiming pedal steel chorus breaks and seemingly nonsensical lyrics, the song entered into the realms of novelty hit. It's a happy little ditty about strange people and their individual idiosyncrasies, with pretty melodies laced throughout and punctuated by trademark moments of crunching but still harmonious noise."
Heartless Bastards - Parted Ways - Gonna be honest here, I didn't realize that the lead voice I was hearing was a woman's voice until I watched any live performance videos... whoopsies. Either way, I love this song.
This past Saturday, April 21, 2012, was Record Store Day! It started in 2007 to celebrate "the unique culture surrounding over 700 independently owned record stores in the USA, and hundreds of similar stores internationally." It's now celebrated the third Saturday of every April, and artists and record labels celebrate by releasing special compilations, limited editions of albums/vinyl, etc. I checked it out for the first time last year, and was so excited to check it out again this year at Newbury Comics in Newton, MA.

Needtobreathe - Shine On - I don't care if this song/band is considered a Christian song/band or not - something about it just caught me. I'd love to see Needtobreathe in concert.
Ryan Adams - My Winding Wheel - a great Ryan Adams tune I hadn't heard before - took me by surprise on the radio recently.
Spoon - Don't You Evah - Are you tapping your feet to this song yet?... How about now?
Mike Doughty - Na Na Nothing - His lyrics and wordplay keeps me wanting to listen to more and more songs... which I usually do...
